Universal Connectivity
RASILIENT platforms are offered in a 3U rack mount form factor with the ability to scale from 15 to 51 SATA, SAS or a mix of drives, depending on the model. Each system features an "Adaptive" storage architecture which allows users to configure systems as IPSAN, FC SAN, SAS or NAS arrays. These systems can even be configured with mixed host connectivity making these the most flexible storage building blocks on the market. The flexibility inherent in these systems allow OEMs to easily target diverse market segments without having to launch multiple specialized platforms.
Affordable High Availability
RASILIENT platforms offer industry leading and affordable high availability features. Unlike most arrays designed to support a single controller with proprietary architectures, the RASILIENT storage server platform can be configured as a single or dual system. RASILIENT platforms are built around a flexible and open architecture utilizing dual; active-active Pentium based controllers, and a custom tuned Linux operating system.
Zero-downtime Architecture
Each system offers, segment-leading, high availability features with active failover capability, 72 hour battery-backed cache protection and full redundancy and serviceability for controllers, power supplies, fans and hard drives. Every component is hot swappable without interruption in service or loss of data. The sophisticated mirrored and battery backed cache and path failover capabilities give the RASTOR 4000 and 6000 best-in-class system fault tolerance. The only component that is not redundant is the mid-plane which has been designed to be fully passive with no active components that could risk a system failure.
Each system offers a full set of RAID configurations (RAID 0, 1, 5, and 10) and a full suite of storage provisioning and security features.
Easy to Use, Service & Support
RASILIENT is committed to developing storage platforms that reduce administrative complexity and management costs. RASILIENT platforms include powerful remote management software that dramatically simplifies setup and monitoring of storage volumes.
The robust self-monitoring technology and automatic notification service maximizes storage availability while minimizing the pressure on system administrators. In the event of a hardware failure, RASILIENT platforms automatically notify administrators via email. The simple to use web-based user interface also provides monitoring for each hardware module. The log information is kept in the persistent memory, which can be recovered after reboot. For remote diagnostics, administrators can dump the whole log to an email that can be sent to customer service with a single mouse click.
To minimize expensive onsite visits, all components have intuitive and highly visible fault indicators. In the event of a failure, the OEM or an outsourced service provider can remotely diagnose the system and indicate to the user which component to replace. The high degree of modularity and remote serviceability in the system enables OEMs to provide comprehensive and cost effective support.
Upgrading the RASILIENT systems is also a snap. RASTOR's high-availability design includes two copies of the kernel in flash. The user can upgrade the kernel on-line via the web management console with no disruption of service.
Enterprise Quality
Both enclosures and the drive carriers are designed for operation without I/O errors in various temperature and vibration conditions. The whole enclosure is built in one piece. Extensive thermal and vibration testing has been conducted on the enclosure itself and on the rack with stacked chassis.
Low Cost Manufacturing
Unlike traditional storage which uses proprietary I/O and RAID ASICs, RASILIENT uses high performance, low cost server technology and custom-tuned Linux-based software to achieve features and performance typically seen in midrange Fibre Channel systems but at a fraction of the cost.
Easy porting of OEM Software
RASTOR's Pentium-based architecture, Linux OS, programmable APIs, and bootable flash memory offer valuable flexibility that allows RASTOR to be enhanced with new software features or personalities. OEM or ISV software applications such as disk backup or remote mirroring can be easily ported to RASTOR 4000 or 6000 and run in a fault tolerant configuration directly within our enclosed storage system.
The benefit to OEMs is significant because investments in management and storage applications are protected and easily leveraged into the new system.
